Absolute Bearing
Turkey Day 2011 (sans turkey)

In my nearly 27 years on this planet I have spent two Thanksgiving days away from my family. The first, 2005, was spend taking over London with the boys from Delco. We ended up making chicken fajitas, and drinking Strongbow. A trip that will never be forgotten.

This year was the other missed Turkey Day. Instead of raging in another land, I have been deploying and retrieving nodes on the floor of the Gulf of Mexico. It was honestly not that bad, just a bummer to be away from my family. Luckily there is a phone on board, and I was able to make some calls, to wish cheer to my family.

Tonight is the annual MacDade Bar Crawl. I may be most sad about missing this. It has been the scene of some of the most interesting stories, nay myths.

Stay safe out their Delco.

After 33 days away, I should be back in Philly by 5pm.

It seems that maybe Newark DE has a few neat looking spots.

Well, here we go

I got myself a brand new (extra pages) passport. As well, I also got myself a job. I am an AUV Specialist/Offshore Survey Engineer. Chances are good I will be putting the new passport to good use.

I have been in the lovely country of Brazil/Brasil for the past few weeks. The majority of that time was spent upon a vessel (loosely appropriate name).

I hope to further update this here space with some pictures and stories of my travels.

Different spot, same plan. Tea, then straight on until morning.

Iced tea=brain fuel. Feeling drained, back to the lab. Dishwasher is busted and sink is backed up. No cooking for me. Half priced pizza

7300 words and counting. 7 days until the draft is due, about 20 days worth of work to do. Ready Set Go.

Down the stretch….

I am truly excited, not been so in a long time. I an embarking on a trip on Sunday that could truly be “life-changing”, I am trying to not get my hopes up. I am off to the city by the bay, for a conference. Who knows, by the end of the trip I may actually have a job prospect. I am lucky enough to have been invited to a lunch at Google, where they are adding my maps to Google Earth! I am truly proud of being able to say “I made that” when I look at my little lake in BC. It may be the delirium of not getting much sleep recently, but I have a good feeling about this.

I am also more excited for Christmas than I have been in years. All I have asked for is socks and a white board. Really excited to visit with the people I really care about.

Stay safe this holiday.

Wow, that was far more than I planned for, goodnight moon.
